Why does my shirt smell like vinegar?

When the garment is printed through the DTG printing process, it can sometimes leave an odor like vinegar on them. That’s why when someone unpacks a new t-shirt or hoodie it smells like vinegar. It’s not unusual – it is due to the fixation agent applied during the process.

The fixation agent helps in bonding ink with the fabric, or the ink would scale off the garment without it. A fixation agent is applied to every DTG prints, and the smell is not permanent.

The smell will vanish on its own after sometimes or if it holds you, you can wash the cloth and dry it up.
