Coated Paper
The papers with the coating of semi-gloss or matte finishes are known as coated papers. Coated papers have agents on their surface which improve the smoothness and brightness of the paper.
After the coating is applied, the roller helps to polish the paper. It fills tiny pits and areas among the fiber, giving it an easy and flat surface.
The coated paper is typically used for printing magazines, photographs, journals, and other promotional materials.
Uncoated Paper
The paper which doesn’t have any coating is known as uncoated paper. The surface of the uncoated papers is rougher than the coated papers. The uncoated papers act like a sponge and absorb more ink.
The images on the uncoated paper will be softer and less crisp.
The uncoated paper is mainly used for printing business cards, envelopes, brochures, or invitations.
