How to spot the difference between the dot matrix printer and thermal printer

The difference between the dot matrix and thermal printer can be pointed out by paper quality, printing speed, and storage time.

People in daily life encounter various bills and receipts, but when you notice both are different in terms of paper quality, ink one will be more smooth than others. Below we will discuss both of the methods to differentiate them.

Dot Matrix Printer

Dot Matrix printer prints the letters by hitting a paper through a needle in the print head. The head needle hits the medium and the force is passed on to another paper through the ribbon, so the multiple can be printed and only the dot matrix printer completes it quickly.

Dot Matrix printer uses ink to print on the paper so it doesn’t fade easily and the print remains for a longer time.

Dot Matrix printer commonly used for invoice printing and ticket printing, etc.

Thermal Printer

Thermal Printer has heated material on the print head. The temperature of the print head rises and comes in contact with the thermal paper to print the desired pattern. Due to the chemical reaction in the film by heating the image is printed.

But due to the temperature of thermal paper, it gets disturbed by the surrounding temperature, so this kind of a print has short storage time and fades away in a couple of months.

Thermal Printer is commonly used for printing shopping receipts, catering ticket printing, and take out order printing, etc.
