Halftone Printing
Halftone printing is the technique where the images are composed of distinct dots rather than continuous tones. A good example of halftone printing is the newspaper, which uses a halftone printing technique to print images. The halftone printing uses fewer inks. Therefore, newspapers, as well as magazines, use the halftone printing technique.
Halftones are created from the dithering process, in which the density and pattern of black and white dots are diversified to different shades.
In conventional printing, the print on images done through a screen with a grid of holes. Throughout this printing process, the ink passes through the holes on the screens, creating dots on the paper.
Modern printers can create a more natural appearance by using the dithering process.
