Getting started with the Template Editor

Once you’ve listed the product and added it for customization, now you are eligible to make the custom design templates. This functionality of creating templates is only applicable to the admins who have purchased the “Admin Managed Custom Templates” functionality from the premium package. Admins can design these custom ready-to use templates and add them to the customer libraries. Read further to find out how you can create these templates and what are the features of this template editor. 

  • From the magento dashboard left panel, navigate to CATALOG > PRODUCTS.
  • Select the product that you want to design the template for and from the action column select “Make design” option.
  • This will redirect you to the template designer page.

A) Left panel features.

  1. Text Tab: With the help of the Text Tab, you can easily add text, quote or sentences in the defined design area.
  2. Clipart tab: The clipart tab lets you add the clipart designs of your choice. A default library of 2000 readily loaded cliparts is available to all the admins. 
  3. Upload tab: You can upload an image from your local system with the help of upload option. You can even drag and drop the image. 
  1. Templates Tab: You can select the already-made design templates from this section and then edit them.
  2. Quotes Tab: You can add pre-loaded, ready-to-use and latest quotes of your choice using this tab. 
  3. Shapes Tab : This tab lets you add various geometrical shapes. 
  4. Background Tab : Lets you change the background pattern of the print area. It could be plane color, texture or design. You can also upload background images from your local system.

B) Right panel features. 

  1. Alignment : You can align your design attributes using this feature. You can set the design attributes to the left, right, vertical, horizontal,  whatever and however you want. 
  2. Layer : You can create multiple design layers and can manage them using this tab.
  3. Flip : This tab is basically used to get mirror images or a vertically/horizontally opposite image of your design. 
  4. Tools : Features such as select all, duplicate, deselect, delete, make pattern, best fit, crop, lock feature can be accessed using this panel. 
  5. Font: The font effects of the text elements can be controlled by this tab. You can select your preferred font, font color, size, alignment and orientation (bold, italics, underline). 
  6. Arc: By enabling the arc feature you can form an arc of the text entered. You can also adjust the diameter and letter space of this arc. This effect is only available for text elements.
  1. Stroke: With the help of the stroke feature you can add borders to the text entered. You can also select the color of your choice for this stroke. This effect is only available for text elements.
  1. Drop Shadow: You can add shadow effects of the added text, horizontally as well as vertically by using this feature. This effect is only available for text elements.
  1. Opacity : Opacity means the visibility of any design, the brightness of the visible design. You can adjust the visibility of the design attributes with the help of opacity tab.
  2. Skew : Using this tab you can skew the layers in both x and y directions.
  3. Object position : Change the object position in both x and y direction.
  4. Image effects : This is one of the most exciting features of our template editor as it allows you to change the colors of the pre-existing cliparts, designs and templates. You can add the cliparts, pictures, templates and then change their colors using our color palette. This feature is only applicable for the image elements. It is not applicable for the text elements. 

C) Other features 

  1. Undo/Redo : Let’s you undo and redo your actions.
  2. Zoom : Let’s you zoom in and zoom out the design.
  3. Reset : By clicking reset, all the changes that you have made will be lost.
  4. Preview : Lets you view how the final design will look like on your store-front. 
  5. Save Template : By clicking on the save template button, a save template pop-up will open. Here, you need to enter the template name, assign its category and enable its status. You can also set your design as a pre-loaded template by enabling the “set as preloaded template” field. Once you’re done, you  hit save to temporarily save your design. 
  1. Download : Again the download of a completed design is possible. It can also be watermarked to prevent copyright issues.
